Clear Aligner Tips
- Take them off before you eat or drink (apart from clear water) –Bacteria can get trapped underneath the aligners and can cause decay or staining.
- Use a straw – If you must drink liquids other than plain water with aligners on, use a straw to avoid decay-causing sugars being trapped underneath the aligners.
- Keep them clean – You can use retainer cleaning tablets such as Polident Cleaner, or just use your tooth brush with tooth paste.
- Avoid hard foods – when you chew harder foods, it can knock the attachments off.
E.g. nuts, crab shells, popcorn, etc.
- Do not lose it – It take weeks for the lab to manufacture and deliver
- Wear them for as long as you can – aligners are designed to be worn 20 hours a day. If you really can’t wear them that long, please let the doctor know. It may extend the treatment length.
